Corelli 370 Medium strings, produced in France by Savarez, have a thinner gauge and fairly low-tension feel. These strings are great for beginners, as they require very little effort to produce a good sound. They offer clear harmonics and very clean articulation, and are an excellent choice for solo playing (in orchestra tuning) for bassists at all levels. They are also ideal for technique training: when you're practicing scales and etudes to up your game, and your orchestra strings are comparatively slow and resistant. Corelli strings are a very valuable set to have on hand for these times, and are affordable as well.
