The well-known Dampit is an easy-to-use humidifier which aids in the prevention of cracks and open seams during dry weather and in arid climates. It consists of a piece of conveniently stretchy perforated tubing which contains a sponge, and is capped with a little plug so the device doesn't (easily) fall inside your violin. Simply wet the Dampit and stick in in the FF hole of the violin (reload with water as needed), and all by itself, the water inside slowly evaporates, raising the relative humidity inside the instrument cavity. When humidity is particularly low, you can use more than one Dampit at a time, so pick up a couple of them at Quantum Bass Market's great prices while you're here! Having an extra Dampit or two in your case comes in handy for impromptu contests with a friend as to how far you can launch the Dampit. An important stringed instrument accessory for touring and traveling!
