Very popular bass strings for jazz, "Deep Talkin" 7710 strings by La Bella are designed as a synthetic gut string, but offer a little more of a steel string feel due to the steel rope core. Black nylon tape-wound exterior. La Bella strings are USA made. Deep Talkin' strings are fun and gratifying to play, with good sustain and a bright attack. The tape-wound exterior gives them a great feel, making playing and shifting seem really easy. There is a bit of break-in time with these strings and they take a few tunings to hold pitch, so allow ample time before a show when you install them. They are designed for pizzicato playing; they tend to produce a very bright overtone under the bow, so we'd say they aren't too compatible with arco playing. The black-and-red winding is good-looking and sturdily made, and the ball which hooks into the tailpiece is made small enough to go through the tailpiece without having to unwind the string from the peg end. HURRAY! Not many modern strings have this time-saving feature; hats off to La Bella. Contraindicated for: arco playing, unless you are looking for an extremely bright sound.
