The critical edition (Urtext) of the Double Bass Concerto "E major" (Krebs 172) by Karl Ditters von Dittersdorf (1739-1799).
This contains the standard “E major” version, reading “D major” and sounding “E” when the double bass is in solo tuning. The original version of this concerto was written in “Eb Major”. The bass would have been tuned in “Viennese tuning” (F-A-D-#F-A) and then tuned up a half step to Eb.
The preface, written by Tobias Glöckler includes edition notes, performance options and notes on "Viennese Tuning". This acclaimed edition includes solo, orchestra and "Viennese tuning", to preserve historical practice. In accordance, 2 different piano reductions (Cristoph Sobanski) have been included. Cadenzas, fingering and bowing by Tobias Glöckler, with additional cadenzas by Johannes Sperger.
