The #2 grade is soft, and produces a warm, elegant sound, detailed and easy to control. Petz No. 2 comes in a generous-sized cake and retains its texture for an extremely long time, making it an excellent choice for students and schools that replace rosin infrequently. It's also a good choice for multiple climates, as it's not excessively sticky in the humidity, and doesn't dry out and become cello rosin in dry weather, either. If you notice a number of similarities between our description of Petz No. 2 and Kolstein Soft, that's completely correct - they are similar. If you like the smoothness and stability of Kolstein Soft, you'll find like characteristics in Petz. No. 2.
